About The Position

The EMR Coordinator supports the pathology lab by performing duties required to maintain Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Laboratory Information System (LIS). This role involves troubleshooting EMR and LIS systems, maintaining client interfaces, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with internal and external customers, including practices, the lab LIS vendor, and outside interface EMR vendors. The coordinator will also monitor daily incoming orders, report transmissions, and assist with billing-related tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written – able to speak with vendors, programmers, clients, as well as write a coherent and concise email

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with multiple interface vendors (i.e. Ellkay, ModMed, NexTech, Athena, LabSoft, EZ Derm, eClinical) a plus, but not necessary

Responsibilities

  • EMR troubleshooting
  • Maintain client interfaces
  • Resolve technical issues with EMR and LIS working with internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with personnel in practices, lab LIS vendor, and outside interface EMR vendors
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical errors
  • Conduct necessary testing process and propose solutions related to compatibility and maintenance
  • Monitor/troubleshoot daily incoming orders and report transmission
  • Maintain positive relationships with all software vendors and clients to proactively identify issues and offer resolution
  • Conduct necessary updates, testing process and propose solutions or improvements
  • Liaison for multiple computer-based systems utilized in pathology lab and clinics (LIS, billing, EMR, etc.)
  • Daily monitoring/confirmation of EMR transmissions, communicate with programmers and clients to ensure successful transmission of reports
  • Assist with billing charges, CPT codes, MIPS, client direct billing, and patient billing
  • Complete special projects when required
  • Coordinate and collaborate with system vendors, lab personnel, and clients when needed
  • Respond professionally to the needs of internal and external customers in timely manner
  • Reporting Melanoma Tumor Registry
  • Maintains daily, monthly, annual monitoring of various electronic systems with appropriate documentation
  • Follows all policies and procedures of the organization
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
