About The Position

The Process Controller plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing process integrity within the forging and heat treatment operations. Acting as the primary liaison between Production and Quality, the Process Controller ensures that production processes are executed per documented procedures, forging instructions, and aerospace quality standards. This role is hands-on, with direct involvement in process witnessing, heat treat oversight, equipment monitoring, and documentation. The Process Controller is central to achieving a zero-defect production culture and supporting NADCAP and AS9100 compliance efforts. This position is full-time Non-exempt.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Must be able to communicate (verbally and written) with managers and coworkers.
  • Must maintain quality practices and safety standards.
  • Must be forklift operations and safety certified (or be able/willing to be certified within 60 days).
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical information such as furnace set temperatures, soak times, pyrometer instrumentation readings, etc.
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-floor representative for Quality, witnessing all forging and thermal processing operations.
  • Verify adherence to process instructions including temperatures, times, sequences, and setups.
  • Immediately report process deviations or anomalies to the Quality and Production teams.
  • Support and participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for nonconforming products.
  • Set and monitor furnace temperatures, soak times, and heat treatment cycles.
  • Operate and maintain temperature recording systems (chart recorders, digital recorders, etc.).
  • Perform and document Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS) and System Accuracy Tests (SAT).
  • Support furnace maintenance, calibration, and preventative maintenance coordination.
  • Act as a key liaison between Quality Assurance, Production Planning, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, including bi-monthly hot inspection reviews and NCR discussions.
  • Communicate effectively with Maintenance for equipment upkeep and repair needs.
  • Contribute to NADCAP compliance efforts related to heat treat and process control.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation to support audits and certifications.
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and non-conformances.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols in manufacturing environments.
