About The Position

This role involves performing inspection procedures on assigned lines in the department according to established standards. The position requires supporting compliance with product specifications, notifying production of potential defects, and performing various process inspections, including checks on bag weight, defects, and sanitation procedures. The role also includes calibrating measuring equipment and actively participating as a team member, contributing to team concepts, policies, and problem-solving. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and a willingness to perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Perform basic math calculations.
  • 6 months to one yr. of prior production experience.
  • Must be able to move, push or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level and bend, stoop, walk, stand and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for entire shift.
  • This position involves repetitive motion and may include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Marks and tags defects in product according to established guidelines.
  • Collects data from Production and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Supports compliance with product specifications and notifies Production of potential defects or issues.
  • Performs a series of process inspections on a wide range of products.
  • Performs process checks on all lines in production.
  • Checks for standardized sanitation procedures.
  • Checks bag weight and defects.
  • Calibrate measuring equipment as required.
  • Works on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
  • Spreads or styles product by hand on the belt.
  • Performs multiple types of packing and weighing.
  • Pulls bones from product; inspects, grades and removes product that does not meet standards.
