About The Position

The Procedure Card Analyst maintains, standardizes, and analyzes operating room procedure cards across designated care sites, focusing on optimizing card content—equipment, instruments, medications, supplies, and procedure standardization—with timely updates and revisions. Collaborating with physicians and perioperative leadership, the Analyst ensures content aligns with patient safety, clinical standards, and cost-saving objectives, while working with the Perioperative Supply Chain to maintain accurate supply data. Through qualitative and quantitative process improvements, the Analyst upholds IH standards, vision, and guiding principles, leading efforts to standardize and centralize key operational functions, mitigating compliance issues, supporting stewardship, and facilitating business platform implementation. Maintaining clean procedure card data enhances caregiver and physician satisfaction, improves patient safety, optimizes working capital, and increases labor efficiency. Essential Functions Procedure Card Management: Oversees procedure card management to enhance patient safety, clinician satisfaction, and perioperative efficiency while reducing waste, errors, and uncredentialed usage through strict standardization and maintenance best practices. Decision Making: Analyzes incomplete data to clearly define issues and integrate diverse perspectives. Prioritizes long-term, structured solutions and allocates resources for innovative, preventive measures while knowing when to act alone or consult with others. Leadership Communication & Skills: Crafts targeted communication strategies for various stakeholders to ensure accountability and deliver constructive feedback. Aligns departmental actions with care site and IH strategic goals, fostering positive HR practices through mentoring, performance management, and coaching. Management & Sustainment: Oversees daily updates to ensure accurate card content (equipment, instruments, supplies, positioning devices, and physician accreditation). Coordinates timely card updates and utilizes quality assurance tools and ServiceNow to maintain transparency and responsiveness. Procedure Card Analysis: Regularly monitors and analyzes data with Tableau, Epic OpTime, and other platforms to ensure clinical data integrity and uncover standardization opportunities. Conducts periodic reviews and annual physician examinations to benchmark performance and enhance patient safety. Physician Onboarding & Collaboration: Coordinates initial contact and onboarding for new providers, ensuring procedure cards are built for their cases. Partners with OR staff and surgeons to update cards, streamline case categories, and drive content improvement. Perioperative Supply Chain Support: Meets weekly with the supply chain team to coordinate product conversions, update DPCs, validate Epic inventory data, and optimize supply utilization. OR Support: Attends weekly OR leadership huddles to discuss projects, physician onboarding, and staff education. Provides training on procedure card processes, reviews scheduling reports to catch and resolve errors, and ensures all scheduled cases have the correct cards attached.

Requirements

  • A Degree of Nursing or Graduate of a surgical technology program or equivalent experience/training required
  • Maintain current License or certification
  • Extensive acute operating room experience as a certified surgical technician or registered nurse across multiple service lines.
  • Demonstrated experience with physician procedure cards; operating room related billing, card maintenance, scheduling, and/or auditing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience with operating room surgical equipment, instruments, positioning devices, medications, and/or supplies.
  • Utilizing ERP for operating room procedure card systems (EPIC OpTime or Cerner preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • BS/BA degree in Nursing or related field
  • Knowledge of analytics: Tableau, Excel and Epic
  • Knowledge and deployment of Lean methodologies.
