About The Position

Under general supervision, performs administrative and financial work of moderate difficulty that support Adult Probation, Juvenile Probation, and Detention Screening and Transport. This role serves as accounting/administrative support for the administrative finance division manager and department director, administering departmental accounting utilizing a computerized system, procurement, budget maintenance, and accounts/payable/receivable processes. The position also initiates collection actions, prepares and processes juvenile and adult restitution orders, monitors accounts, makes department purchases, acts as a purchasing card liaison, tracks capital assets, and serves as the department Fleet Liaison, Coject/Training Coordinator, internal onboarding policy trainer, and oversees records retention and special projects.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting, business administration, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible budget/accounting experience
  • Considerable knowledge of office equipment and software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Considerable knowledge of office administration, accounting, ledger account reconciliation practices, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Considerable knowledge of records management
  • Considerable skill in self-control, patience, initiative, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
  • Considerable skill in operating a computer to enter and retrieve information
  • Considerable skill in business English and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare/maintain financial records in appropriate filing systems, including compliance with record retention schedules
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information as designated
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public as well as internal and external departments/agencies
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical computations
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate financial records/budget
  • Ability to coordinate accounting/administrative processes with internal and external financial departments/agencies
  • Ability to perform clerical work of advanced nature
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to prioritize and plan workload while carrying through to completion in compliance with time limits and deadlines
  • Ability to travel between offices in Cochise County
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
