About The Position

Performs professional investigative duties while supervising probationers. Essential functions are fundamental job duties. They do not include marginal tasks which are also performed but are incidental to the primary functions. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must be computer literate.
Experience with Microsoft Word is required.
Requires a valid driver license at the date of hire and maintain said license while employed in this position.
Requires drug and breath testing certification within one (1) month of employment.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Microsoft Excel is preferred.
Experience with Smartbench and E-Portal is preferred.
Required to pass additional background screening and/or fingerprinting for access to FCIC/NCIC and other secured programs.

Responsibilities

Instructs and monitors defendants on the conditions the Court has sentenced them to and/or released them under.
Observes and conducts drug and/or alcohol testing of defendants as directed by the Court to include packaging of lab specimens; testifies to results in court.
Conducts monthly reviews of defendants’ behaviors/progress and take appropriate actions.
Attends violation of probation/violation of pre-trial release hearings and prepares summary sheets for the State Attorney.
Conducts counseling sessions with probationers on matters of employment, conduct and domestic situations.
Conducts pre-sentencing investigations used to determine treatment and disposition to be imposed on offenders.
Assists as needed in preparing a variety of reports and correspondence.
Determines suitability of release plan as to residence, employment and community factors with subsequent recommendations to the court.
Counsels and refers clients to specialized treatment services available through local organizations.
Interacts with the public in an effective and courteous manner.
Must demonstrate commitment to our mission, vision, values and goals and represent the County in a professional, dignified manner at all times both in actions and appearance.
May have a role in the County’s disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts, as designated in the County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan; may be required to work before, during and/or after an emergency.
Must be able to meet minimum attendance standards; on-call 24 hours daily for community safety issues; serves as the pre-trial release officer on all holidays, weekends and days the office is closed and when the pre-trial release officer is not available.
Serves as the primary backup for pre-trial release officer.
Performs related duties as required.
