About The Position

The mission of Anoka County Community Corrections is working to build a safer community. We are committed to leading through implementing innovative, research based, and results driven services. The Community Corrections department has an immediate opening for a temporary Probation Officer Assistant. This role supports Probation Officers and works with the Juvenile Diversion team, conducting diversion hearings and assisting with case management. The position also oversees the Level Five Surveillance Program, monitoring youth in the community to ensure compliance with approved schedules. This is a temporary, non-exempt, on-site position. The expected duration of this assignment is up to six months. Interviews will begin the week of May 11th, 2026, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older by date of hire.
  • Successfully pass driver’s license background check.
  • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, or currently pursuing post‑secondary studies in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related area.
  • One year (2,080 annual hours) or more of job-related experience in a Correctional setting.
  • Job-related experience with interviewing clients and preparing court reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate documentation of case activity utilizing department and offender data systems and computer hardware.
  • Complete Client and Consequence Review reports.
  • Enter and maintain accurate client and case information in a Court Services Tracking System (CSTS).
  • Focus on pro-social skill development and the effective use of rewards and sanctions using individual counseling approaches, and facilitation of diverse programming.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to ensure all required services and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform case review and take appropriate action according to policies and guidelines.
  • Provide monitoring assistance for case conditions, prepare reports, interview clients, conduct community client contacts, and other supportive tasks for Diversion and field services.
  • Conduct a Diversion Hearing with youth and parent and/or guardians.
  • Complete Diversion Reports, data sheets, contracts and Discharge Reports.
