About The Position

The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State’s legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland’s 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness. The OAG is seeking a highly organized and mission‑driven professional to serve as the Pro Bono Coordinator for the Stephen H. Sachs Pro Bono Program. This position plays a key role in advancing the OAG’s access‑to‑justice efforts by assisting with the facilitation of case placement, managing volunteer attorney participation, and supporting partnerships with Maryland’s legal services community. The position reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Staff, who leads the OAG’s Outreach team. The Pro Bono Coordinator leads the day‑to‑day operations of the Pro Bono Program by collaborating with the Pro Bono Committee to evaluate potential cases from public interest partner organizations, manage internal case assignments, and monitor case progress. The role also includes developing, scheduling, and supporting legal clinics and pro bono events designed to expand the OAG’s community impact. Through these responsibilities, the Coordinator helps connect skilled OAG attorneys with underserved communities and supports the broader legal aid network.
