As an RN on the Same Day Surgery team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients. RNs on this team help checking patients out, check and stock crash carts, provide general patient care and perform chart audits. Your efforts will help to optimize the unit for procedures and ensure a positive patient experience. A PRN caregiver in this position works variable days from 7:00AM – 3:30PM or 7:00AM – 7:30PM. Working 36 hours per 6-week schedule is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within one year of hire
  • External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
  • Will consider licensed military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • One year of experience in a critical care setting
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification – if you do not already hold this certification, you must obtain it
  • Previous PACU experience
  • Internal applicants with less than two years of experience but post orientation/90-day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
  • Checking patients out
  • Check and stock crash carts
  • Provide general patient care
  • Perform chart audits
