The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (pre and post) consists of 3 Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory suites that perform various procedures including cardiac catheterization, permanent pacemaker implants, AICD implants, Electrophysiology studies, ablation procedures, and carotid stenting. There is a 13-bay pre/post patient care area. The role also involves performing TEE and cardioversion procedures. Orientation for this position is extensive, ranging from 16 weeks to 6 months, covering all aspects of the department. Each staff member is expected to participate in the on-call rotation. Nursing care is provided to adults 18 years or older, with no pediatric procedures performed. This is a PRN position, requiring a minimum of 24 hours off shift per 6-week schedule, with 10-hour day/evening shifts. Weekend and holiday work is required as needed, with eligibility for Shift and Weekend Differential. The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for implementing, directing, and coordinating patient care through the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This includes recognizing and treating the physical and psychosocial changes unique to the age/population group served on the specific unit.
