About The Position

DT-Trak Consulting, Inc., a Native American-owned, SBA 8(a)-certified federal healthcare staffing firm, is seeking a qualified PRN Outpatient Pharmacist to support the Mid-Atlantic Tribal Health Center (MATHC) in Charles City, Virginia. MATHC serves newly federally recognized Tribes in Virginia and is committed to elevating the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the Native American community within its service area. This is a non-personal services, PRN independent contractor position under a federal Indian Health Service (IHS) contract. You will provide outpatient pharmacy coverage during periods of provider absence, vacancy, or leave — ensuring continuity of medication management and patient care.

Requirements

  • Degree: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited program (or accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education)
  • License: Current, full, and unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory — maintained active throughout the contract term
  • Experience: Minimum 12 months of outpatient pharmacy experience within the last 5 years
  • BLS: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Malpractice Insurance: Must carry minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence / $3,000,000 aggregate professional liability coverage
  • Background Check: Must complete IHS CNACI/eQIP background investigation and fingerprinting prior to first shift (coordinated through Nashville Area Office)
  • Immunizations: Must meet all IHS federal vaccine/immunization requirements (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza, Tdap, TB test within 12 months, Annual N95 Fit Test)
  • SAM.gov: Must be registered or willing to register in the System for Award Management

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with IHS, VA, FQHC, or tribal health clinic pharmacy operations
  • Familiarity with RPMS (Resource and Patient Management System) or similar federal EHR platforms
  • Experience with Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs

Responsibilities

  • Perform prescription medication order entry and dispensing upon pharmacy opening, using both automation and manual fill techniques
  • Maintain accurate medication profiles for all patients; assist providers with prescription renewals and Medication Therapy Management (MTM)
  • Investigate and complete medication error reports; assign, prioritize, and evaluate work in accordance with pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Apply knowledge of current federal and state regulatory requirements specific to medication order processing
  • Provide drug information and patient education to providers, patients, and clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR/RPMS)
  • Attend dental, medical staff, or clinic meetings as requested
  • Comply with all MATHC policies, IHS standards, infection control protocols, and applicable federal regulations
