Perform essentially the same duties as those required of any military or government civil service nurse of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. This role involves providing comprehensive professional nursing care to normal and high-risk patients, documenting actions, and ensuring the appropriate equipment and supplies are available based upon patient needs. The nurse will monitor and control the environment, accurately document procedures, results of medications, and unusual occurrences. They will also prepare reports and statistics, use tact and diplomacy when interacting with personnel, patients, and family members, conduct patient/family interviews, complete preoperative documents, progress notes, and teaching. Additionally, the role includes faxing prescriptions, entering lab and radiology orders, assisting with orientation and training of other staff, ensuring equipment is cleaned and stored, and maintaining a safe work environment. The nurse will utilize information management systems, coordinate with facility staff, and review patient charts for completeness. They will establish patient goals, participate in planning care, and take appropriate action to prevent patient deterioration. The nurse will also serve as a preceptor for newly assigned nurses and operate therapeutic and emergency equipment.
