About The Position

This role involves assisting physicians with Endoscopy procedures. The technician will prepare procedure rooms, set up instruments, and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available. They will also assist with biopsies and labs, maintain inventory, and coordinate the maintenance of specialized equipment. Additionally, the role includes answering the telephone, providing information about procedures, and potentially wasting medications and performing IV insertions if qualified.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

Assembles equipment and supplies needed prior to procedures.
Prepares procedure rooms.
Assists physicians with Endoscopy procedures.
Assists with obtaining, labeling, and delivering biopsies or labs with the RN or MD.
Helps maintain, order, and stock supplies for Endoscopy.
Ensures specialized equipment and instruments are maintained.
Coordinates a regular maintenance program for equipment.
Troubleshoots minor problems with equipment.
Notifies clinical engineering when necessary for repair.
Answers telephone, answers questions concerning procedures as appropriate, and relays messages.
May be expected to waste medications per appropriate guidelines and processes.
May be expected to do IV insertions (if Tech has successfully completed an IV insertion course).
