About The Position
Astera Health is looking for a PRN Emergency Room Technician (EMT or CNA) to join our team. This is a temporary position with an established end date of October, 31st, 2026. The primary role for the ED Tech is to assist nursing staff in the treatment and care of patients within the Emergency Department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Active EMT or CNA certificate
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective patient care by completing assigned tasks
- Capture vital signs (temperature-axillary or oral, pulse, respirations, blood pressure-manual and automatic, oximeter)
- Telemetry, blood glucose monitoring, and CPR
- Oxygen administration
- Cleaning and maintenance of rooms and equipment
- Perform spinal immobilization and patient restraint as directed by the RN
- Properly move patients with slide boards and other adjuncts; assist with patient transportation
- Assist with splinting and casting
- Perform wound cleansing and dressings as directed by RN
- Assist in setting up suture trays after sterile procedure competency determined by RN
- Set up helipad – if needed
- Start IV/saline lock only as directed by RN – perform blood draw as directed by RN and only if within scope of practice
- Perform daily checks
- Enter and maintain accurate data into the ED log
- Restock the department
