About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the APP Occupational Health role manages general health problems and coordinates health care for patients who are employees of contracted organizations. These APPs work with employers to identify and address workplace hazards and coordinate medical care for employees who are injured on the job or who have other medical conditions that require ongoing care. According to their practice specialty, these APPs deliver patient care and medical services to individuals and families by utilizing standards of care in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations to assess health status, diagnose medical conditions, develop medical plan of care, implement treatments and evaluate patient responses in collaboration with collaborative/sponsoring physician as described in a Collaborative Practice Agreement. Utilizes various telecommunication modalities, such as telehealth, telemedicine and asynchronous methods, in the performance of [a portion, or all] their job responsibilities as indicated by patient care needs to provide the same high-quality outcome as is expected for in-person care.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Effective Dec 1, 2021, all new APP applicants will have a graduate (Masters or higher) degree from an accredited program (PA or APRN).
  • Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) - State Board of Healing Arts of the current advanced practice license for the State of Kansas and/or Missouri (depending on practice locations). OR Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - State Board of Nursing of the current advanced practice license for the State of Kansas and/or Missouri (depending on practice locations).
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced practice certification commensurate with training (PA or APRN). Specific certification may be required depending on specialty practice area.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous APRN or PA experience.
  • DOT certificate highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and technical competencies of the advanced practice provider role (PA or APRN) in the assigned occupation health setting
  • Able to evaluate medical problems of clients in the assigned practice setting and appropriately requests consults to other specialties when indicated.
  • Provides education to patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications pertinent to the patient’s condition.
  • Creates diagnostically appropriate treatment plans
  • Documents all medical evaluation, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals and consultations consistent with NCQA, The Joint Commission, state regulatory standards and evidenced-based standards of care.
  • Maintains documentation compliance for appropriate coding and billing.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
