About The Position

Thrive Education Partners is seeking a Private Tutor for a rising 2nd grader in Dallas. This is an enrichment role, focusing on keeping the child strong, confident, and joyfully stretched beyond the standard curriculum in math and reading/writing. The child is described as curious, energetic, chatty, and playful, learning best when sessions are fun. Sessions will be in-home, twice a week (approximately 60 minutes each – one math, one reading/writing), starting around the beginning of the school year. The ideal candidate is upbeat, warm, and genuinely energized by young children, able to make academic work feel playful and purposeful. Experience guiding a private-school family thoughtfully over time and a love for this age group are essential. The role requires excellent communication with parents and a polished, professional presence.

Requirements

• 2+ years of tutoring or teaching experience, ideally with early elementary students.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Reliable transportation for in-home sessions in Dallas.
• Available for a consistent weekly schedule, in-home.
• Strong written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with rigorous private schools is a strong plus.
• Education or subject-matter background preferred.
• Familiarity with Beast Academy, Art of Problem Solving-style thinking, Singapore-style math, or similar enrichment approaches is ideal.
• Upbeat, animated, and comfortable with a chatty, high-energy child.
• Able to redirect gently without dampening enthusiasm.
• Good at weaving in student interests — pop culture, art, storytelling — to make the work land.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce grade-level math concepts with strong conceptual teaching, avoiding rote worksheets.
• Extend the student's thinking through richer, more creative problem-solving in math.
• Help the student see math as interesting and confidence-building.
• Build comprehension, vocabulary, and early writing confidence.
• Use the student's interests (humor, storytelling, art) as an entry point for reading and writing enrichment.
• Reinforce habits such as reading directions carefully, explaining her thinking, and communicating clearly.
• Keep sessions playful and creative.
• Communicate effectively with parents.

Benefits

• Pays $50–$70 per hour, depending on experience, private-school familiarity, and fit.
