About The Position

Thrive Education Partners is seeking a Private Tutor for a rising 2nd grader in Dallas. This is an enrichment role, focusing on strengthening math and reading/writing skills beyond the standard curriculum. The student is described as curious, energetic, chatty, and playful, learning best when sessions are fun. The tutor will conduct in-home sessions twice a week (one math, one reading/writing, approximately 60 minutes each) starting around the beginning of the school year. The ideal candidate is upbeat, warm, and can make academic work playful and purposeful, while also possessing the experience to guide a private-school family thoughtfully.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of tutoring or teaching experience, ideally with early elementary students.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Reliable transportation for in-home sessions in Dallas.
  • Available for a consistent weekly schedule, in-home.
  • Strong written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rigorous private schools is a strong plus.
  • Upbeat, animated, and comfortable with a chatty, high-energy child.
  • Able to redirect gently without dampening enthusiasm.
  • Good at weaving in student interests — pop culture, art, storytelling — to make the work land.
  • Familiarity with Beast Academy, Art of Problem Solving-style thinking, Singapore-style math, or similar enrichment approaches is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce grade-level math concepts with strong conceptual teaching, extending thinking through creative problem-solving.
  • Familiarize the student with math concepts using enrichment approaches like Beast Academy, Art of Problem Solving, or Singapore Math.
  • Help the student see math as interesting and confidence-building.
  • Build comprehension, vocabulary, and early writing confidence in reading and writing.
  • Use the student's interests (humor, storytelling, art) as an entry point for learning.
  • Reinforce habits such as reading directions carefully, explaining thinking, and communicating clearly.
  • Keep learning playful and creative.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $50–$70 per hour, depending on experience, private-school familiarity, and fit.
