About The Position

Maverix Private Equity is a Toronto-based private equity firm led by an experienced and talented team with the background, network, and track record necessary to successfully execute a technology-enabled growth and disruption investment strategy. We closed our inaugural fund in 2022 and are raising Maverix Growth Equity Fund II. Maverix targets North American businesses with rapidly growing revenues and evidence of a clear, profitable business model. The average position size is US$50M for meaningful minority positions in our portfolio companies. Requirements

  • Entering year two or three of an undergraduate program in an analytical field (e.g., business, computer science, mathematics, etc.)
  • Strong academic standing
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in investing, finance, consulting, or venture capital
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to “roll up the sleeves”
  • Ability to succinctly communicate detailed information, both written and verbal
  • A passion for innovation, technology and growth equity investing
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, and an understanding of the importance of responsible, ethical, and secure use of AI tools in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with industry research and the screening and assessment of potential investment opportunities.
  • Support the investment team in investment thesis development, market mapping, and deal sourcing initiatives.
  • Assist with financial modelling and valuation analysis, including comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, discounted cash flow models, and return analysis.
  • Prepare research materials, presentations, and investment memoranda for internal discussions and Investment Committee review.
  • Attend management meetings, diligence meetings, site visits, and Investment Committee meetings, and provide concise summaries of key findings and discussions.
  • Maintain and enhance CRM data quality, ensuring investment activity, contacts, and research insights remain current and accurate.
  • Conduct market and competitive landscape research across sectors of interest to the firm.
  • Leverage AI-enabled research and productivity tools, where appropriate, to support market research, company analysis, and knowledge management activities while applying sound judgment, validating outputs, and adhering to Maverix's standards for confidentiality, accuracy, and responsible AI use.
