About The Position

A private family based in the North Shore of Long Island, New York, is seeking an experienced Private Chef to join their household. The chef will work between their main residence and their home in the Hamptons, following a 5-day-per-week schedule. The role involves cooking daily meals for a family of 4 (two adults and two children aged 10 and 14), and catering for regular family gatherings and weekend entertaining. The family enjoys high-level, seasonal cooking with a creative, modern approach, with cuisine that is varied and international, featuring Mediterranean and modern French influences, plus occasional Asian dishes. Meals are primarily healthy, balanced, and refined, with lunch and dinner service only. The chef must be proficient in Mediterranean-style cooking and allergy-free diets, including gluten-free and dairy-free, without compromising taste, quality, or creativity. Menus should be seasonal, flavorful, well-presented, and adapted to the family’s needs while remaining delicious and enjoyable. This is a full-time, permanent position offered on an employed basis, with a salary of $165,000+ per year, paid via W2. Accommodation can be provided at both residences. The role includes cooking for the principals and their children day-to-day, with additional catering for family visits and entertaining. The family is looking for a calm, flexible, and highly capable Private Chef who can cook, operate, and engage with the clients if required, and work cleanly in an open kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, low ego, and confident in menu planning, food pairing, and presentation. The family entertains regularly, with occasional larger lunches and gatherings. A strong private chef background is essential, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and maintain consistently high standards. Light travel with the family to the Hamptons or other US locations in the summer is to be expected.
