About The Position

The role supports a Private Banker by assisting with administrative, client service, and day‑to‑day operational activities. It supports the delivery of an exceptional customer experience to private banking clients, providing a superior level of courteous, knowledgeable and professional service. The officer proactively identifies and discusses clients’ needs, collaborating with branch and regional teams for referrals, and ensures compliance and operational effectiveness. The role also involves assisting in new business proposals, identifying customer needs for appropriate products/services using relationship selling, and recommending workflow process improvements. It includes determining client needs for timely transaction processing, taking ownership of client inquiries, and maintaining detailed knowledge of private banking services and business strategy. The officer collaborates with stakeholders, analyzes data for insights, reviews overdraft reports, and strives to exceed client service standards to maximize relationship retention and growth, building client trust.

Requirements

  • Typically between 2 – 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of personal (primarily) and commercial credit and non-credit products, monitoring/operational processes and applications.
  • Basic knowledge of the Lending Process and supporting policies.
  • Basic knowledge of loan and security documentation, including registration and renewal routine.

  • Provide a superior level of courteous, knowledgeable and professional service to all existing and potential clients displaying a comprehensive knowledge of products.
  • Recognize the appropriate time to proactively identify and discuss clients’ needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the branch and regional teams to identify and make referrals.
  • Ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Assist in preparing new business proposals or presentations to clients/prospects.
  • Identify customer needs and match with appropriate products or services using relationship selling techniques, including making referrals to other BMO employees.
  • Identify and recommend workflow process alternatives that can lead to improved efficiency and service levels.
  • Determine client needs and ensure timely and accurate completion of transaction processing.
  • Take ownership of client inquiries/ concerns/ complaints, ensuring timely resolution and referring as appropriate.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of integrated private banking services and offerings.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the strategic direction of the business.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver on business objectives.
  • Analyze data and information to provide insights and and recommendations.
  • Review overdraft and other monitoring reports with Private Banker and action accordingly.
  • Strive to exceed client service standards to maximize relationship retention and growth.
  • Develop rapport and instill confidence with the client to develop credibility and earn their trust.
  • Provide timely, accurate service and support to Private Bankers by completing a wide variety of credit, non-credit, and related activities.
  • Adhere to all banking, investment and lending regulations, Policies and Procedures, legal and ethical requirements, process requirements, bank guidelines and established risk guidelines.
  • Follow security and safeguarding procedures and apply appropriate due diligence for the prevention of loss due to fraud, counterfeiting money laundering or defalcation in accordance with Bank policy.
  • Participate in audits and compliance reviews as assigned.
  • Identify and escalate all irregularities and discrepancies to management.
  • Complete complex & diverse tasks within given rules/limits and may include handling escalations from other employees.
  • Analyze issues and determine next steps.
  • Perform broader work or accountabilities as assigned.
