About The Position

The Privacy Governance Lead is the divisional leader responsible for advancing a culture of privacy, trust, and compliance across all facilities within the Division. The role provides strategic oversight and support for Facility Privacy Officials, ensuring consistent implementation of enterprise privacy programs, regulatory compliance, and effective privacy risk management. Serving as the primary liaison between Division leadership and Enterprise Privacy, the role drives standardization, education, continuous improvement, and alignment with organizational goals while supporting HCA Healthcare’s commitment to protecting patient, colleague, and business information. The position may require up to 25% travel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
At least 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare privacy, compliance, or regulatory oversight.
Experience leading or overseeing multi-site healthcare privacy programs.
Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and state privacy laws.

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Compliance, Law, or a related field preferred.
CHPC (Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance) preferred, not required.
CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) preferred, not required.
CIPP/US or equivalent privacy certification preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for Facility Privacy Officials across the Division.
Ensure consistent implementation of enterprise privacy policies, standards, programs, and regulatory requirements.
Lead divisional privacy governance efforts, including performance monitoring, compliance reporting, and risk management.
Facilitate collaboration and communication among Enterprise Privacy, Division leadership, and facility stakeholders.
Monitor compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, CMS requirements, state privacy laws, and other applicable regulations.
Oversee investigations, risk assessments, and resolution of privacy incidents, breaches, and complaints in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and Information Security teams.
Analyze privacy trends and audit findings to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and improve program effectiveness.
Support implementation of enterprise privacy initiatives, regulatory updates, and new privacy tools and processes.
Develop and oversee privacy education, awareness, and training programs for workforce members and Facility Privacy Officials.
Coordinate internal and external audits, monitor remediation activities, and maintain divisional privacy dashboards and reporting.
Conduct periodic reviews of facility privacy programs to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on privacy, compliance, and regulatory matters.
Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Information Security, Health Information Management (HIM), Human Resources, and Operations to advance privacy objectives.
Escalate significant privacy risks and emerging issues while promoting a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
