About The Position

The Privacy Analyst III is responsible for investigating privacy incidents, providing guidance to internal business partners on appropriate use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI), and assists in maturing the privacy program. This role involves leading efforts in risk assessment, policy development, training, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations within a healthcare organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience is required
  • Five (5) years working as a privacy professional or related role is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in keyboarding
  • Knowledge of privacy regulatory environment
  • Competent working in a high-growth business environment
  • Working knowledge of health plan policies and procedures
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assess complex privacy risks
  • Ability to work in a fast-past environment and reprioritize

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years’ experience in a Managed Care Organization or other healthcare related field is preferred
  • Privacy Certification (e.g. CIPP/US, CIPT, CHP, etc) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and conduct risk assessments for privacy incidents and coordinate and draft breach notification as appropriate/required
  • Act as a training resource to junior staff in regards to the investigation and documentation of privacy incidents and other privacy related processes
  • Assist in managing and maturing various aspects of the privacy program including: developing and facilitating privacy pop-ins, coordinating monthly privacy community meetings, and assisting in the review of organizational wide privacy training
  • Lead the effort to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities
  • Take initiative and action to respond, resolve, and follow up on assigned issues in a timely manner including meeting regulatory and self-imposed SLA’s
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of privacy-related policies, standards, guidelines, and processes
  • Lead the privacy effort supporting the organization’s HIPAA Risk Assessment and other applicable audits/assessments
  • Lead the physical monitoring effort to ensure PHI is secure in workspaces
  • Assist with the review/approval of new or revised member and marketing materials from a privacy perspective
  • Lead privacy effort supporting the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)
  • Actively participate in the communication of the privacy program and instill a culture of privacy within the organization
  • Maintain awareness of new laws, enforcement activity and other developments in the privacy domain
  • Coordinate with key internal stakeholders in performing assigned job duties
  • Identify and report potential risks, non-compliance or alleged violations as appropriate
  • Perform any other job duties as requested
