About The Position
The Prior Authorization Medical Assistant supports patient care by handling prior authorizations for essential medications and labs. They communicate with insurers, gather documentation, and follow up on pending requests so patients can access treatments for endocrine conditions without interruption.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Blood sugar line- MA retrieves patient information from phone line and starts a message in EPIC- sometimes up to 3 weeks of blood sugar readings
- Maintaining supplies and linens- ordering, checking expirations
- Adding external labs- creating telephone encounters in EPIC
- Assisting RNs with Forms/letters
- Calling patients to retrieve blood sugars for multiple weeks.
- Entering data in flow records
- POC testing- blood glucose
