About The Position

The Printing Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the operation of printing services within Fayette County Public Schools. This role involves making work assignments for printing personnel, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality publications, training, scheduling, and evaluating the performance of assigned staff. The supervisor will also consult with management to establish priorities and deadlines for printing projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
  • Three years of experience in printing operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Ability to use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl, climb, and reach.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights, up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate in more than one language or willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at a novice level of proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, assign, and direct the operation of the printing services function.
  • Oversee the maintenance of publication equipment and train staff in its operation.
  • Supervise the printing, collating, binding, and distribution of approved publications.
  • Maintain inventory of curriculum guides and direct the distribution of published materials.
  • Requisition supplies related to publication according to established procedures.
  • Examine material submitted for printing and explain restrictions imposed by copyright use.
  • Train, assign, and supervise the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Research printing equipment and purchases, providing technical recommendations and analysis of new equipment and proposed facilities.
  • Assure proper maintenance and repair of departmental equipment and maintain current knowledge of technical advances in the field.
  • Review incoming work, prepare production instructions, estimate production time, establish priority, and schedule work for various phases of production.
  • Approve expenditures according to established guidelines.
  • Order and maintain inventory of paper stock, ink, chemicals, and other supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in printing activities as necessary.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
