Dart's Scarborough manufacturing facility is adding a Print Pressman to support the operation, setup, and troubleshooting of our flexographic printing presses while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and productivity. Requirements

  • Strong commitment to safety, attendance, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to successfully complete a technical assessment measuring mechanical aptitude
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably within printing or packaging operations
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical equipment issues
  • Proficient use of hand tools and production equipment
  • Ability to work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Strong visual acuity, including the ability to accurately distinguish colors
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including heavy lifting, climbing, clearing machine jams, and handling rolls weighing up to 600 lbs using proper equipment and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Operating flexographic printing presses while adhering to all safety and GMP standards
  • Identifying print defects and implementing appropriate corrective actions
  • Installing, preparing, and troubleshooting doctor blade systems ("doctor heads")
  • Installing, preparing, and troubleshooting ink pump systems
  • Performing butt splices, roll changes, press setup, wash-ups, ink returns, and equipment cleaning
  • Conducting pH and viscosity checks to ensure print quality standards are maintained
  • Loading rolls into unwind stations and completing splices as required
  • Handling, staging, and managing inks throughout the production process
  • Making machine adjustments including web guides, paper edges, slitting knives, oven temperatures, and treaters
  • Completing production and quality documentation accurately and on time
  • Supporting equipment cleanliness, printing plate maintenance, and overall press performance
  • Collaborating with Production, Quality, and Plant leadership to meet operational goals
