About The Position

The Printer Technician provides operational support services throughout the lifecycle of the asset to include installation, configuration, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning and disposal to ensure the proper functioning of HP printers, copiers, fax machines, and peripherals. This role provides regular preventive maintenance and repair services, identifies and resolves technical issues, and maintains equipment in optimum operating condition. The Printer Technician collaborates with internal departments and customers to resolve underlying problems and ensure a high level of service.

Requirements

  • Prior hands-on experience with HP printer repair, maintenance, and configuration.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues related to computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • In-depth knowledge of Netware, Wireless, USB, and Windows operating system environments.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sales (POS) systems or other console or utility stations used to manage, operate, or service covered devices.
  • Ability to resolve problems with desktops, laptops, and printers at the component level.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to set appointments and manage multiple service calls in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Candidates must live in the vicinity of Ft. Polk Louisiana. A suitable individual will reside within 25 miles of the base. Nearby cities and towns include Alexandria, Leesville, Rosepine, Oakdale, DeRidder, Burkville, Merryville, Longville, and Anacoco.
  • Candidates must have a valid Louisiana driver’s license and must be able to furnish their own transportation.
  • Ability to work primarily at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital with frequent travel between work centers scattered throughout Fort Polk.
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain) a DoD CAC, must complete DoD Cyber Awareness training, sign a site AUP, complete HIPAA training, and be able to obtain a favorable clearance report. All offers are contingent upon meeting these criteria.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital printers and associated pre- and post-processing equipment preferred.
  • associate’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.
  • Coursework or practical training in computer systems, data communications, networking, operating systems, or programming is a plus.
  • PDI+ certification demonstrating proficiency in the maintenance of fax machines, printers, and copiers strongly preferred.
  • HP certification specific to printer repair and maintenance desired. Company will train and sponsor the candidate for needed HP certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain HP printers, copiers, fax machines, and associated peripherals on the network.
  • Diagnose and repair printer malfunctions, including hardware, firmware, and network connectivity issues, including wired Internet Protocol access, HTML configuration portal access, Near Field Communications (NFC), Bluetooth, and wireless (802.11) network access services.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including paper loading and unloading, replenishing supplies, field-replaceable unit (FRU) replacement, and cleaning equipment.
  • Manage and maintain onsite parts inventory and control territory parts budget.
  • Assess equipment to identify sources of problems, suggest solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Attend to dispatch calls and follow up on dispatch procedures; manage daily service call activity. Escalate promptly to regional/central support experts and OEM Tier 3-4 services to support root cause analysis and ensure return to service in a timely manner.
  • Interact directly with customers before and during site visits to ensure corrective measures are taken and issues are resolved.
  • Communicate estimated task completion times, status updates, and potential problems to customers and service management.
  • Perform hard drive wiping and data sanitization duties for all persistent storage media as required.
  • Record, upgrade, and replace hardware and software systems; install and reinstall software packages and updates.
  • Provide feedback including customer information and printer usage reports.
  • Resolve Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity issues related to printers and printing, including Netware (legacy), Wireless, USB, Mac OS, and Windows OS environments.
  • Assist in the sale and administration of maintenance agreements and manage equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with customers; maintain OEM certifications necessary for supported contracts; and attend manufacturer training sessions to remain current on technology advancements.
  • Offer technical support for the identification, prioritization, and resolution of reported problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
