About The Position

As a member of the Marketing & Communications Department, the Print Services Specialist oversees the College's Print Shop and campus printers, coordinating print production and related services to ensure high-quality printed materials are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule to College employees, students, and stakeholders. The specialist works on site from the Print Shop located in Flat Rock, North Carolina. The Blue Ridge team is excited by every opportunity to be creative, innovative, and engaging. Requirements

Associate Degree required.
A minimum of three (3) years of practical and relevant experience working in a print shop environment.
Superior customer service skills and ability to interact with all contacts verbally and in writing in accordance with college procedures and policies.
Valid NC driver’s license
Familiarity with print shop software such as Fiery, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and PDF workflow tools.
Knowledge of color management and calibration techniques.
Experience with bindery or finishing equipment.
Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and orally.
Must have English grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills with accurate proofreading.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain print production and finishing equipment, including color, black-and-white, wide-format, and envelope printers/copiers; postage meter; folding, laminating, shrink-wrap, inserting, cutting (manual and hydraulic), and perforating equipment.
Manage print jobs from start to finish, including file preparation, proofing, production, and delivery.
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team and other College departments to meet project requirements and expand the capabilities and services provided by the Print Shop.
Perform basic graphic design and file preparation for internal College customers to support high-quality print production.
Inspect printed materials to ensure accuracy, quality, consistency, and brand compliance, seeking appropriate approval when needed from the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on print shop equipment.
Monitor inventory levels of paper, ink, and other supplies, and order materials as needed.
Troubleshoot issues and schedule service calls for multi-function devices and print equipment as needed.
Provide courteous, responsive customer service to internal customers requesting print and mail services.
Coordinate the ordering and distribution of branded name badges.
Receive incoming postal, courier, and interoffice mail.
Assist with shipping and receiving packages.
Track print jobs and maintain accurate production records.
Submit monthly print shop and campus printer charge reports to the Business Office.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and College policies.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve print shop and mail service operations, processes, and procedures.
Serve on assigned College committees.
Assist students in creating, copying, and or printing their projects for their classes.
Oversee distribution of paper, copier toner, printer cartridges, and staples to copiers or printers in other departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
