About The Position

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal Elementary to collaborate with, support, and lead students, staff, and community of Normont Elementary towards academic excellence. Normont Elementary is a diverse, high needs, tier-2 targeted assisted school, which serves approximately 300 students in grades TK-5th. Normont Elementary is known for its Spanish/ English Dual Language immersion program that is part of LAUSD Choices for Unified Enrollment. Normont Elementary is recognized for its positive behavior intervention and supports (PBIS) as they have received the Platinum Award from the state, which is the highest recognition a school can achieve. The student body is comprised of 65% Hispanic, 24% African American, 3% Pacific Islander, 3% White, and 3% Asian. The school has a Title 1 designation with approximately 20% English Learners, 20% Students with Disabilities, and 5% Identified GATE. Norment Elementary is located at 1001 W. 253rd St., Harbor City, CA 90710.

Requirements

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school.
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching.
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential.
  • Multicultural coursework.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • District Master Plan requirements.
  • Candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program to be placed in the eligible pool.
