About The Position

The Principal is the instructional and operational leader of the school, responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment where all students and staff can thrive. The Principal provides strategic leadership in teaching and learning, supports staff growth and development, builds strong relationships with students, families, and the broader community, and ensures the effective day-to-day management of the school in alignment with provincial policies, standards, and system priorities.

Requirements

  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Masters degree directly related to the position (ILA Diploma in Instructional Leadership, Leadership, OR Educational Administration)
  • Completion of the SSRCE Aspiring School Administrators Program, NSELC ALP Program or equivalent
  • Administrative Experience P-9
  • Teaching Experience P-9
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse Register Check
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Checks

  • Facilitating change for improvement and being knowledgeable and strategic in response to evidence of student and system needs.
  • Recognizing that building respectful trusting relationships and strong partnerships is vital in meeting the needs of all students.
  • Collaboratively managing inclusive educational environments, human resources, finances, and operations to ensure safe and orderly day-to-day operations.
