About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Principal Water Supply Engineer to join their Water Team in Indianapolis, IN. This senior leadership role involves leading critical drinking water projects from planning and design through construction and start-up. The engineer will work on projects including water treatment facilities, distribution systems, storage facilities, and source supply infrastructure, all aimed at supporting public health and long-term community growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required
Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience required, preferably related to drinking water systems
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Strong understanding of water treatment and distribution infrastructure
Experience with engineering and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Plant3D, Civil 3D, or WaterCAD
Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Familiarity with engineering standards, QA/QC practices, and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

Lead drinking water infrastructure projects from initial planning through construction and completion
Oversee engineering studies, designs, reports, and technical documentation
Provide guidance on water treatment, storage, and distribution system improvements
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to keep projects moving forward
Mentor junior staff and support technical quality across projects
Evaluate existing water systems and recommend practical, sustainable solutions
Prepare reports and presentations for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal leadership
Support proposals and help communicate technical concepts in a clear, client-friendly manner
