About The Position

Terraphase Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced Associate to Principal Water Resources Engineer for its Reno, Nevada office. The role involves managing and mentoring staff, developing and implementing water resource projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and addressing complex water-related issues. The successful candidate will have an established client base in their geographic region and a proven record of leading design teams and delivering high-quality work. The engineer will lead water resources projects from planning and design through construction and completion; oversee or conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis, and simulations; and develop sustainable water management solutions. The position also provides technical expertise in stormwater management, flood control, water quality, and watershed management, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and clients across multiple sectors and regions. The role includes preparing technical reports, proposals, and regulatory compliance documents, certifying documents as appropriate, reviewing peers’ work products, and staying current with industry practices, technologies, and regulatory changes. Compensation is based on experience, technical expertise, education, and geographic location, with a stated pay range of $135,000–$200,000 USD.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in water resources engineering.
Demonstrated ability to connect with regional clients and pursue and win water resource and environmental projects.
Proficiency in overseeing the use of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
Strong knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes.
Excellent project and staff management and leadership skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Nice To Haves

Certified Floodplain Manager certification is desirable.
Civil design skills are a plus.

Responsibilities
