About The Position

As a Principal UI Engineer on Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex Platform team, you will help advance the frontend ecosystem and execute the platform’s technical vision in partnership with architecture leadership. The role focuses on scalable UI architecture, design system integration, data visualization, and performance optimization. You will collaborate with UX designers, backend engineers, AI/ML teams, and product managers to shape interfaces that help security analysts monitor, analyze, and automate threat responses. Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex platform provides AI-driven enterprise security operations, including Cortex XDR, XSOAR, XSIAM, and Xpanse. The company says most teams work from the office full time, with flexibility when needed, to support collaboration and real-time problem-solving.

  • Mastery of JavaScript (ESNext), TypeScript, React, Angular, HTML5, and Tailwind/CSS3/Sass.
  • Deep understanding of state management, including RxJS, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or React Query, and modern frontend patterns such as micro-frontends and Webpack Module Federation.
  • Hands-on experience building complex data visualizations and rich UI dashboards.
  • Experience with modern build tools such as Vite, Webpack, or Babel; CI/CD workflows; and testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building shared platform capabilities or core UI frameworks in cybersecurity, SIEM, or SOC operations domains.
  • Experience maintaining enterprise design systems and UI component libraries, such as Storybook.
  • Understanding of WebSockets, Server-Sent Events (SSE), and real-time frontend streaming architecture.
  • Exposure to AI/LLM integrations within web interfaces, such as streaming chat responses or autonomous agent workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of intuitive data visualizations and complex UI components that clearly present high-volume, multi-source data.
  • Partner with UX teams to evolve and maintain enterprise-grade design systems, ensuring component consistency and accessibility across products.
  • Optimize bundle sizes, rendering paths, state management, and asset loading for fast response times under heavy client-side data loads.
  • Work with backend engineers, AI/ML teams, and product leaders to translate complex security workflows into intuitive platform interfaces.
  • Establish frontend best practices, automated UI testing pipelines, and code review standards.
  • Mentor mid-level and senior UI engineers.
