About The Position

Aflac is hiring a Principal Platform Engineer to provide architectural design, strategy, governance, and technical leadership for platform environments, including COTS, SaaS, and ERP platforms with distributed components. The role collaborates with senior stakeholders to align platform strategies with business objectives, guides teams in following standards, and leads medium-sized projects. Work location is hybrid for employees within 50 miles of Aflac offices in Columbus, Georgia, or Columbia, South Carolina, with at least 60% of the work week in the office. Employees living more than 50 miles from those offices work remotely from home within the continental United States, though occasional office visits may be requested based on business needs. The successful candidate brings expertise in platform deployment architecture, scalability, platform limitations and workarounds, configuration governance, and upgrade and migration strategies. The role supports platform maintenance and architecture, ensures compliance with organizational and security requirements, plans upgrades and installations, monitors performance and capacity, and designs and maintains integrations and platform applications. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and at least six years of experience in release practices and environments or related experience are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also accepted. The salary range is $123,000–$160,000.

Requirements

Expertise in architectural design for platform deployment.
Ability to develop strategies for platform scalability and growth.
Deep expertise in platform limitations and workarounds.
Knowledge of best practices and governance for platform configuration.
Ability to lead platform upgrade and migration strategies.
Ability to lead medium-sized projects.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align platform strategies with business objectives.
Define best practices and standards and guide the team to ensure adherence.
Support architectural design and maintenance of platform environments, including COTS, SaaS, and ERP environments with distributed components.
Ensure compliance with organizational requirements by implementing, auditing, and adhering to policies, procedures, and security standards.
Plan software upgrades, patching, and plugin installations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Monitor performance, resolve problems, and manage component capacity issues.
Design, test, develop, configure, and maintain integrations to platform applications.
Follow platform security and coding standards for resilience, data, and security.
Review business requirements and deploy the best solution, including configuring, coding, and debugging.
Work with cross-functional departments to communicate status and technical proposals.
Deploy and configure platform applications tailored to company needs.
Design technical solutions and configure, customize, test, and maintain platform applications to meet company requirements.
Perform other duties as required.
Lead medium-sized projects.
