About The Position

MTSI is seeking a Threat Emulation Specialist to support the 361 ISRG. As the Principal Threat Emulation Specialist, you will lead development and standardization of a realistic Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) training environment for the 361 ISRG. You will work independently while also functioning as part of a dynamic team in a technology driven directorate. Position activities include, but are not limited to: coordinating with base-level agencies to enhance local training using existing/future technology; engaging with local and federal spectrum management offices and range control activities; assisting with administration and management of Request for Information (RFIs); authoring action reports and briefings; preparing correspondence and other documents needed to support the management of the program and associated activities; assist development of training objectives and strategies; creating and briefing materials on program initiatives to industry, senior military personnel and other VIPs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Radio Frequency (RF), Electronic Warfare (EW), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) or related fields.
  • Familiarization with DoDI 4650.01 Policy and Procedures for Management and Use of the Electromagnetic Spectrum and related doctrine.
  • Familiarization with AFTTP 3-1 Threat Guide.
  • Experience with TCP/IP and network architecture (e.g. Net+, CCNA).
  • Analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Linux including CLI and tools such as tcpdump, iperf, etc.
  • Must be familiar with the 802.11 standard and its amendments.
  • Operational understanding of networking hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers and server hardware and associated troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work outdoors, in potentially austere conditions, in order to setup hardware/ensure serviceability.
  • Active TS clearance, ability to obtain/retain SCI clearance to start, with Counterintelligence Scope Poly eligibility.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

  • Experience working within intelligence and AFSOC communities.
  • EW testing background: experienced with frequency qualification and authorization processes; experienced with test range coordination; experienced testing with open-air RF propagation.
  • Experience with current and best practices for RF design engineering, requirements development, and performance validation.
  • Leading and managing technical programs and teams.
  • Current Counterintelligence Scope Poly, DESIRED.

Responsibilities

  • Design threat emulation systems for SIGINT, ISR, EMSO, Cyber and related training and test.
  • Primary focal point for threat emitter needs in support of unit training, exercises, and test events.
  • Build and maintain wireless range capability.
  • Maintain and expand collection of threat emulator equipment.
  • Manager projects related to new threat capabilities.
  • Understanding requirements derived from current/future system capabilities and training.
  • Interface with local/regional range frequency management offices to attain required authorizations to transmit.
  • Evaluate technical information on data links and integrated air defense systems to understand U.S./coalition and adversary strengths and weaknesses.
  • Interpret data and make analytic judgments on broad-based and domain/discipline-agnostic intelligence capabilities.
  • Collaborate with program engineering and sustainment specialists on new system designs and support equipment.
  • Provide cryptologic support for the long-term, strategic planning of a realistic training environment, and interact with internal and external personnel to refine requirements for planning objectives associated with the development of cryptologic initiatives.
