Principal Test Engineer

NXP SemiconductorsAustin, TX

About The Position

The Principal Test Engineer leads the creation and deployment of production-ready Automated Test Equipment (ATE) solutions for high-performance automotive processors from concept through high-volume mass production. This role involves developing test plans and test programs for IP within the chip, designing ATE loadboards for multi-gigahertz range, executing PVT (Process, Voltage, Temperature) characterization, first silicon bring-up, and IC qualification. Additionally, the engineer will utilize statistical data processing and design of experiments (DOE) to enhance yield and drive down test time and manufacturing costs. Collaboration with global teams including analog/digital design, product engineering, quality assurance, and offshore assembly/test subcontractors (OSATs) is crucial. The role also includes overseeing production release, defining test limits, and managing customer support or customer returns.

Requirements

  • Experience in creating and deploying Automated Test Equipment (ATE) solutions.
  • Proficiency in developing test plans and test programs.
  • Experience in designing ATE loadboards for multi-gigahertz range.
  • Experience with PVT (Process, Voltage, Temperature) characterization, first silicon bring-up, and IC qualification.
  • Knowledge of statistical data processing and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, product engineering, QA).
  • Experience with offshore assembly/test subcontractors (OSATs).
  • Experience in production release, defining test limits, and managing customer support/returns.
