Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in Strategy, Technology, Operations, Consulting, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to operate at senior levels within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational discipline and bias for action.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including executive storytelling and structured problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
  • Strong judgment, high accountability, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Skilled at driving clarity, prioritization, and thoughtful trade-offs.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or building a community of practice, enabling shared standards, knowledge exchange, and collective problem-solving across peers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chief of Staff to a Technology Senior Vice President during a transformational time for Target and the Tech team.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and execution partner, ensuring the SVP’s portfolio is aligned to enterprise priorities and positioned to deliver measurable impact.
  • Shape annual and multi-year strategy, clarify trade-offs, sequencing, and resource allocation decisions, and represent portfolio priorities in key enterprise forums.
  • Translate strategy into clear priorities, milestones, and measurable outcomes, establishing and managing a strong operating rhythm across the portfolio, including strategic planning, quarterly business reviews, and leadership cadences.
  • Ensure transparency on performance, risks, and dependencies, proactively address challenges through data-informed, cross-functional decision-making, and build mechanisms that translate intent into action while sharpening focus on the highest-impact work.
  • Strengthen consistency and execution discipline across portfolios.
  • Surface enterprise interdependencies early, balance portfolio advocacy with enterprise-first thinking, and actively contribute to and strengthen the Technology Chief of Staff community by building shared standards, trust, and collective accountability across portfolios.
  • Build deep domain expertise within your assigned Technology portfolio, understanding key risks, performance metrics, investment drivers, and capability gaps.
  • Engage credibly with senior technical leaders and translate complex technical topics into clear, enterprise-ready narratives that inform decision-making and drive alignment.
