Principal, Technical Program Manager
About The Position
As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you'll lead one of Marketplace Platform Reliability's strategic capability areas, driving engineering initiatives that improve reliability, operational excellence, and developer productivity across thousands of engineers. You'll partner with engineering leaders to define strategy, establish engineering standards, and execute complex cross-functional programs that strengthen how Marketplace builds, deploys, and operates software. The Marketplace Platform Reliability team develops and maintains engineering systems that support thousands of engineers in delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performing software. The team manages platforms, operational intelligence, AI capabilities, and engineering standards to enhance productivity and system reliability. Focused on innovation and continuous improvement, members design robust, scalable solutions that support business growth while optimizing operational efficiency. Collaboration, strategic alignment, and effective program management drive technical excellence across the Marketplace organization, ensuring high-quality standards and sustained platform performance.
Requirements
- Experience leading complex technical programs across multiple engineering organizations.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud platforms, software delivery, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.
- Proven ability to influence engineering strategy and drive execution through collaboration and data-driven decision making.
- Experience defining engineering metrics, operating mechanisms, and organizational improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills with the ability to align teams around common objectives.
- Demonstrated success delivering strategic engineering programs that improve reliability, developer productivity, or operational performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
- 8 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Project Management.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 4 years’ experience in product design.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
