About The Position

The Walmart Marketplace organization is building the platforms and experiences that power one of the world's fastest-growing marketplaces. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will serve as the SingleThreaded Owner (STO) for large, complex, cross-functional initiatives that are critical to Marketplace growth. You will drive alignment across Product, Engineering, and Business teams, navigate ambiguity, influence executive decisions, and ensure successful delivery of strategic outcomes. This role requires exceptional technical judgment, systems thinking, program leadership, and the ability to deliver results through influence rather than authority. The Marketplace TPM organization partners with Business, Product and Engineering leaders to deliver Walmart's highest-priority strategic initiatives. We operate at the intersection of technology, product strategy, and business execution, leading programs that span multiple organizations and enable Marketplace to scale globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years leading large-scale technical programs.
  • Proven success delivering complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong technical understanding of software systems and architecture.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Experience driving planning, governance, and execution across organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience using AI and automation to improve execution.
  • Ability to influence without authority and thrive in ambiguity.
  • Passion for building scalable processes that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 8 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 4 years’ experience in product design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of strategic, cross-functional technical programs.

  • Align Product, Engineering, and Business teams around shared outcomes.
  • Drive technical discussions, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
  • Influence executive decisions with clear data and structured tradeoffs.
  • Build scalable operating mechanisms that improve execution.
  • Leverage AI, automation, and analytics to increase productivity.
  • Define program metrics and executive reporting.
  • Remove execution bottlenecks and improve delivery predictability.
  • Mentor TPMs and raise the program management bar.
