About The Position

Reddit is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager, Developer Productivity to lead company-wide programs for AI-assisted engineering workflows. This role will partner with engineering leaders across various departments to ensure AI-native development is safe, measurable, scalable, and effective. The position is crucial as Reddit enters a new era of software development driven by AI and agentic workflows, aiming to enhance engineer speed and confidence while managing complexity and risk. The TPM will guide Reddit in establishing a flexible yet protective framework for agentic development, focusing on delivering value and fostering trust in new workflows. At Reddit, Technical Program Managers leverage technical judgment to define and drive large, cross-team programs. They collaborate with engineering and product leaders on strategy, execution, and stakeholder alignment. They are responsible for identifying root causes, evaluating solutions, and understanding the impact and risks associated with them. Beyond program delivery, they build execution processes to improve overall organizational scale. This Principal TPM role, reporting to Engineering Operations, operates at an executive and company-wide scope, shaping strategy, creating alignment in ambiguous areas, and setting standards for complex technical program execution. While not a people management role, it is a leadership position focused on delivering programs and influencing how teams think, collaborate, and make decisions to embed new systems, standards, and behaviors.

Requirements

  • 14+ years of experience across technical program management, engineering, infrastructure, developer tools, platform engineering, AI tooling, or related technical domains.
  • Experience leading multi-year, multi-organization technical programs with executive visibility and ambiguous ownership.
  • Comfort operating with senior executives while understanding technical execution details.
  • Deep fluency in developer productivity systems: CI/CD, code review, testing, deployment, observability, developer environments, internal platforms, or AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Understanding of AI and LLM-enabled software development beyond personal productivity, including agent workflows, governance, evals, telemetry, code quality, review burden, cost controls, and operational risk.
  • Highly data-driven with the ability to build measurement systems that connect workflow improvements to business and engineering outcomes.
  • Exceptional cross-functional operator and communicator, skilled at bringing people together, creating clarity, building trust, and translating complex changes into clear narratives.
  • Experience leading meaningful organizational change, shifting behavior across teams by listening to concerns, creating shared language, building confidence, and making desired paths easier and more valuable.
  • Proven ability to deliver outcomes and help teams differentiate between motion and impact.
  • Pragmatic and iterative approach, introducing structure without constraint and knowing when to adopt paved paths through value rather than enforcement.

  • Experience leading developer productivity, platform engineering, infrastructure modernization, or AI tooling programs at large scale.
  • Experience with LLM platforms, AI-assisted development tools, agentic workflows, or AI governance in an enterprise engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive programs across Reddit's Developer Productivity and AI portfolio, including agent infrastructure, AI-assisted code review, developer environments, LLM governance, developer tooling, AI workflow measurement, and software delivery automation.
  • Partner deeply with engineering teams as a technical peer to bring programs to completion, balance risk, and ensure execution aligns with Reddit's long-term developer productivity strategy.
  • Partner with Developer Productivity and Infrastructure leaders to translate strategy into executable programs covering code review, agent infrastructure, self-service LLM access, evaluation and observability systems, development environments, and safe agent workflows.
  • Define and drive the operating model for AI-native developer productivity, including team adoption of paved paths, application of guardrails, success measurement, and risk escalation/resolution.
  • Create company-level alignment across infrastructure, developer experience, reliability, security, compliance, product engineering, machine learning, and executive stakeholders, influencing without authority.
  • Drive the social and cultural change necessary for AI-assisted development to succeed company-wide by building trust, addressing skepticism, creating feedback loops, and facilitating adoption.
  • Develop communication and enablement mechanisms, including leadership forums, working groups, training, documentation, rollout plans, and clear narratives connecting workflow change to business and engineering outcomes.
  • Build measurement systems to distinguish real productivity from vanity metrics, defining industry-aligned metrics in partnership with engineering and data teams.
  • Drive AI governance and adoption to preserve engineering creativity while ensuring security, cost management, privacy, compliance, and operational safety.
  • Use technical judgment to challenge assumptions, identify systemic risks, and guide tradeoffs across AI tooling, CI/CD, code review, deploy automation, developer environments, and production reliability.
