Principal Technical Product Manager

BLUE ORIGINWest Melbourne, FL
$169,347 - $237,086

About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. As a Principal Technical Product Manager for Factory Automation, you will architect Blue Origin's next generation of machine and robot integration platform, the software layer that issues commands to CNC machines, robotic arms, automated guided vehicles, and test stands, and captures every output, reading, and state change without human transcription. Achieving the manufacturing rates required to make space accessible demands that our factory equipment and software operate as a single closed-loop system, where automation drives throughput while building quality and safety into every step of production. You will define a multi-year strategy to integrate our factory equipment fleet into a unified software platform where commands flow from planning systems down to machines and telemetry flows back up with no manual step in between. You will partner with engineers, manufacturing operations, software engineering, and product design to establish the data standards, communication protocols, and product architecture that make this possible. And you will own the full product lifecycle, from mapping integration gaps on the factory floor today to shipping production systems that run without manual intervention tomorrow. We are looking for someone who combines deep knowledge of factory automation systems and manufacturing operations with the product leadership to translate that expertise into software that ships. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

  • Strong experience with Lean, Agile, and Scrum methodologies, and proficiency with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead agile development processes and leverage AI to accelerate delivery and team productivity.
  • Experience working closely with UX design and software engineering teams. Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, make trade-offs, and evaluate new ideas.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to leverage data for decision-making and product prioritization.
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt and utilize AI tools and evolving technologies to prototype, iterate, and ship features with speed and quality.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer empathy and a passion for building products that deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Hands-on experience with factory automation systems, machine and robot integration, or manufacturing operations in aerospace, automotive, medical devices or a similarly complex manufacturing industry.
