As a Principal Systems Engineer, you’ll support programs involved in modernizing the U.S. Air Force Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) capabilities. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations + 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field + 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Leadership and mentoring experience systems engineering teams
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of management, program team members, and external stakeholders
  • Proven track record in capturing customer requirements, operations concept development, deriving and tracing system and sub-system requirements
  • Proven track record as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • A strong understanding of the Systems Engineering Development Life-Cycle

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MBSE tools like MagicDraw CAMEO, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect
  • Experience with requirements tool such as DOORS
  • Expertise in building complex SysML models, including developing activity, state, block diagrams, use cases, etc
  • Proficiency in Excel Macros and Visual Basic
  • Agile experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or other Agile leadership roles
  • Knowledge of Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value
  • Familiarity with bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g., SEER products)
  • Competence in peer review processes, configuration, and change management
  • Understanding of military concepts of operations or radio performance standards

Responsibilities

  • Tracking, reporting, and managing program scope, cost, and schedule execution
  • Apply Earned Value Management principles to provide accurate Estimate to Complete (ETC) updates
  • Provide monthly variance analyses for associated Control Accounts
  • Identify and manage Risks and Opportunities for assigned subsystems
  • Collaborate to capture, analyze, decompose, and trace system requirements
  • Leverage JIRA to decompose epics and features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Plan and execute project-level work to meet schedules, costs, and performance goals.
  • Manage technical risks by evaluating design aspects and requirements
  • Represent the Systems Engineering team in customer and internal meetings
  • Bridge the gap between functional discipline groups and internal/external stakeholders
  • Engage in classified lab environments to apply your expertise hands-on (On-site presence required.)
  • Travel occasionally to support program requirements
