We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer – Modeling, Simulation & Analysis supporting one of our premier programs within Raytheon, an RTX Business. In this role, your experience with modeling and simulation, systems engineering analysis, software development, and performance assessment will be instrumental in the development of next-generation missile and sensor systems. You will collaborate across integrated product teams consisting of Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, and Performance Simulation engineers to develop and evaluate high-fidelity simulation environments supporting mission-critical defense capabilities. The work is on-site in Aurora, CO.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or another STEM discipline and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience applying object-oriented software design and programming using C or C++
  • Experience using Python or MATLAB to analyze engineering data and evaluate system performance
  • Experience developing models or simulations of physical systems and applying modeling, simulation, statistical analysis, or engineering analysis to evaluate system solutions
  • Active and transferable DoD Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to start date, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or another STEM discipline
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Experience developing and presenting technical briefings to customers and engineering leadership
  • Experience developing Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) algorithms, signal processing algorithms, or missile performance models
  • Experience with control hardware design, hardware/software integration, or systems integration and test
  • Experience modeling flight dynamics, physics-based systems, or missile performance characteristics
  • Experience working in UNIX or Linux environments and using software configuration management tools such as Git
  • Coursework or experience in radar, signal and image processing, EO/IR systems, digital communications, probability and statistics, linear algebra, estimation theory, optimal control, system architecture, inertial navigation, or guidance theory

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-fidelity models and simulations to support missile design, performance assessment, and flight test activities
  • Design, develop, and implement modeling and simulation solutions while conducting trade studies and evaluating system and subsystem performance
  • Collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, and Systems Engineering teams to execute simulation activities in support of program objectives and schedules
  • Analyze simulation results and provide technical recommendations that influence system architecture and design decisions
  • Support product development throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial concept through fielded deployment
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams while supporting design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer engagements
  • Contribute to the development of technology roadmaps and innovative modeling solutions that support future mission capabilities
