Principal Systems Engineer (HYBRID)
About The Position
Solipsys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Aerospace/RTX, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join their team in Fulton, MD. This role involves developing command and control software systems for both commercial and government customers in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced business environment. The position is a Hybrid role, supporting the Fulton, MD location. The Principal Systems Engineer will serve as an Onsite Systems Engineer and Command and Control (C2) Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) in advanced software integration facilities globally, collaborating with USAF representatives on Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies. Responsibilities include software installation, demonstration, system integration and testing in a prototype lab environment, and debugging issues.
Requirements
- Experience as a systems engineer on a software development program
- Strong background in integrating software and debugging issues in a software development environment, including knowledge of Red Hat Linux Operating System
- Experience with any of these systems or similar: Command and Control (C2), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control systems
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as an Air Battle Manager (ABM) in the Air Force with in-depth knowledge of the role and the C2 systems that are used in this role
- Adept at communicating (verbal and written) with all levels within and outside the company, ability to prepare and deliver presentations/summaries which appropriate address the intended audience
- Experience working with standard MS Office product suite applications
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance
Responsibilities

- Perform software installation and demonstration of Solipsys C2 software
- Software system integration and test in a fast paced, prototype lab environment
- Hands on debugging of issues discovered during integration
