We are seeking an innovative and talented Principal Systems Engineer to join our Vehicle team. The candidate must have the ability to be a technically minded problem-solver, be able to focus on the task at hand. Location: Aurora, Colorado (Buckley)

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in command-and-control systems and operations.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective customer relationships.
  • Experience collaborating with senior technical management.
  • Experience conducting technical investigations and communicating findings to leadership.
  • An active and transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

  • Experience with scripting and programming languages, including UNIX/Linux environments, MATLAB, Perl, C++, Java, JavaScript, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical working groups to drive issue resolution, coordinate cross-functional inputs, and achieve program objectives.
  • Develop refine and deliver high‑impact technical briefings to stakeholders and leadership, providing data‑driven insights, recommendations, and decision‑support with minimal oversight.
  • Coordinate and influence cross‑team technical activities, ensuring alignment of priorities, resolving cross‑functional dependencies, and maintaining effective communication across engineering teams.
  • Design, enhance and maintain complex software tools and automation solutions for data extraction, analysis, and interpretation, independently identifying improvements and ensuring tool robustness and scalability.
  • Perform and interpret trending, performance, and system‑level analyses across hardware and software baselines, synthesizing findings to inform broader engineering assessments and program-level decisions.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex software and hardware issues, leveraging cross-functional expertise and leading investigation efforts to drive root‑cause identification and corrective actions.
  • Collaboration with multiple program and customer teams, serving as a technical advisor and ensuring integrated solutions that support shared objectives and mission needs.
