About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. This role will be part of the Sentinel Logistics Support team, specifically supporting the Logistics System Capability Thread. This position offers a growth opportunity for individuals interested in developing into a technical leadership role. The selected candidate will collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop systems engineering and design artifacts, manage and optimize DOORS databases, work with technical teams to develop and mature WS design, help develop and incorporate system requirements, and contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis. The role also involves developing unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes, and managing program governance while assisting subject matter experts in developing program compliance documents. This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).

Requirements

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related experience, 3 years with Masters, 1 year with PhD.
  • Principal Systems Engineer: 1+ year experience in team environments with technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Principal Systems Engineer: 2+ years’ experience in Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) (Minuteman III (MMIII) or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • Principal Systems Engineer: 2+ years’ experience in creating, updating, and maintaining requirements specifications in Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS).
  • Sr Principal Engineer Systems: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of related experience, 6 years with Masters, 4 years with PhD.
  • Sr Principal Engineer Systems: 3+ years’ experience in team environments with technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Sr Principal Engineer Systems: 5+ years’ experience in ICMBs (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • Sr Principal Engineer Systems: 5+ years’ experience in creating, updating, and maintaining requirements specifications in DOORS.
  • Required for Both Levels: Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Required for Both Levels: 2+ years’ experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • Required for Both Levels: 2+ years’ experience in developing and executing Systems Engineering process governance documentation in a DoD Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase.
  • Required for Both Levels: 1+ years’ experience in team environments with technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Required for Both Levels: 2+ years’ experience in creating, updating, and maintaining requirements specifications in DOORS.

Nice To Haves

  • ICBM Experience (MMIII or Sentinel).
  • Experience with Agile, JIRA, Confluence.
  • Proficiency in DOORS including DXL scripting.
  • 3+ years’ experience writing requirements and/or verification plans.
  • Capable of working with minimal direction and in team environments.
  • Experience working with internal and external teams to accomplish tasking.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop rigorous and proper systems engineering and design artifacts.
  • Manage and optimize database for Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) tools.
  • Work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature WS design of a large program.
  • Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.
  • Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
  • Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).
  • Manage program governance and assist subject matter experts in the development of program compliance documents.
