Collins Aerospace is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to lead to join the Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing (APNT) Solutions team. The team is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing systems for real-time embedded navigation and timing solutions for military ground, airborne, and maritime applications. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of Assured PNT systems architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team effort to develop our navigation products for the warfighter. Collins Aerospace continues to build on a strong history of providing navigation equipment to meet the evolving needs of commercial and military users. Our navigation solutions provide enhanced situational awareness and pinpoint accuracy for airborne and surface missions worldwide allowing users of our equipment to complete their mission and return home safe.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
  • This position will require a up to 15% travel.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in GPS and/or Antenna Electronics development
  • Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT)
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework and DevSecOps

Responsibilities

  • Provide project execution management including detail planning, cost account management, status and analysis, while also participating in system design and implementation activities where possible.
  • Participate in and facilitate Agile team ceremonies, Agile sprint reviews, user story refinement and end of sprint product demos as a product owner.
  • Collaborate across Integrated Product Teams (IPTS) on program goals.
  • Provide communication and status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support verification and traceability of the system requirements.
  • Support peer reviews on test procedures & design documentation.
  • Own the development of your design approach through collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Help drive resolution for technical issues through problem-solving and coordination across impacted teams.
  • Have the opportunity to improve our approaches through sharing lessons learned with the team and department.
