About The Position
Indotronix is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer professional for an exciting job opportunity in Woburn, MA. This is a 12-month contract position with a pay rate of $108.75/hr on W2. The role involves developing and implementing MIL STD 882E compliant system safety programs, performing various system safety tasks and analyses, and collaborating with integrated product teams to eliminate hazards or implement controls. The engineer will also coordinate with customer safety representatives, apply methods and standards to clarify system requirements for software, hardware, and test personnel, and ensure proper allocation and integration of design and architecture considerations. Collaboration with Program Management and government approval authorities throughout the program lifecycle, from startup to disposal, is also a key aspect of this role.
Requirements
- 7 to 10 years experience
- BS Degree or MS Degree
- Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance
- Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place
- Design of concise, testable safety requirements or providing safety analysis of existing requirements
Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing one or more MIL STD 882E compliant system safety programs
- Performing MIL STD 882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)
- Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls
- Coordinating with customer safety representatives applying methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
- Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
- Monitoring a technical execution program
- Mentoring Multiple Jr. Engineers
- Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
- Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
- Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
