About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join their Resilience Water Team in Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., or Georgia. This role will leverage expertise in structural design and construction engineering to manage projects within the Municipal & Industrial Water/Wastewater and Water Resources infrastructure consulting markets. The position offers geographical leadership for the structural engineering team and involves leading water/wastewater design and construction projects, including structural condition assessments, design calculations, technical reports, permitting, and detailed design for various water/wastewater infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 15 years of structural engineering experience in Water / Wastewater.
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural or Civil/Structural.
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills.
  • Proficiency in tools such as STAAD Pro and other structural software applications.
  • Excellent technical writing and editing abilities.
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD/REVIT software.
  • Excellent working knowledge of building codes and standards, including IBC and ACI.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
  • Experience in structural engineering within the Water/Wastewater sector (preferably 20 years).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in multiple states (Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Puerto Rico).
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License.
  • NCEES Record featuring a mention of MLSE (Multi-Lateral Structural Engineer).
  • Successfully completed the NCEES 16-Hour structural exam.
  • Strong level of proficiency in MATHCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide geographical leadership for the structural engineering team.
  • Manage staffing and strategy decisions.
  • Manage junior and mid-level structural engineering staff.
  • Organize and conduct structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work.
  • Lead the development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
  • Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and sub-contractors.
  • Manage the production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates.
  • Function as an Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer to manage budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and manage plans, permit checklists, and scopes of work.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects.
  • Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, general planning, or construction oversight.
