About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Engineer to work as a Network Architect. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation package. The candidate will join the Weapon System Integration (WSI) team under Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT), working on Network Systems Integration (NSI). Under the guidance of the Lead Network Architect, the selected candidate will support the NSI team, which works to develop program-wide networking governance and standards, develop and/or synthesize network artifacts at the system level (including cross-segment network interfaces, program network architecture, and network documentation), perform program-wide gap assessments for network development, develop handling plans for any identified issues, and provide networking subject matter expertise to areas such as Major Program Event (MPE) reviews, modeling (architecture, simulation, analysis....), and requirements. NSI team purview includes the deliverable network architecture, incremental/test configs (lab networks), & ITF/MIF/VSFB test networks.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
Ability to obtain DOD 8570 IAT Level II (Security + or higher) within 2 months of employment start
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 with Master's degree, or 1 with PhD (Principal Systems Engineer Level)
2+ years of experience implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods (including using SysML or UML in Cameo or Rhapsody) (Principal Systems Engineer Level)
1+ years of experience working with requirements including authoring, allocating, tracing, interpreting, etc... (Principal Systems Engineer Level)
Exposure to designing, architecting, or deploying complex network infrastructures (Principal Systems Engineer Level)
1+ years of experience with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (Principal Systems Engineer Level)

Responsibilities

Mentor under a senior-level architect on networking systems architecture synthesis and system-level development
Use Model-Based Systems Engineering practices to design, test, and verify network capabilities
Drive logical/physical network architecture governance, tool standardization, and system-level network architecture development
Coordinate with other (SDV and BU) MBSE governance and network developer teams
Influence network requirements and interfaces; translate program-level requirements into network-level deliverables
Support governance adherence for waveform and lower-level OSI network management, protocols, and timing
Assess the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable network infrastructure to include network design, architecture, specifications, cross-segment interfaces, and equipment selection per DoD requirements
Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications
Participate in frequent working groups to support iterative development
Provide specific and detailed information for hardware and software selection as well as implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists
Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
Recommend and implement system/process enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging Industry and DoD trends and technologies in network frameworks, management, and analytics while ensuring proper utilization where applicable
Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to established policies
Exhibit good communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers
