Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Systems Engineer to come work as a Network Simulation & Test Analyst. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis experience of Aerospace Vehicles through either professional work experience or education performing physics based simulation and analysis
  • 1+ years of experience with analysis tools such as MATLAB
  • Familiarity with statistical theory and it's application to analysis problems
  • Strong partnership/collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to partner cross-IPT/cross-discipline within a team
  • Exposure to developing governance and standards
  • Experience with systems integration
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 years of experience with PhD (for Principal Systems Engineer)
  • 1+ years of experience with scripting (e.g. Python/PowerShell) (for Principal Systems Engineer)
  • Exposure to designing, architecting, simulating, or deploying complex network infrastructures (for Principal Systems Engineer)

Responsibilities

  • Support the NSI team which works to develop program-wide networking governance and standards, develop and/or synthesize network artifacts at the system level (including cross-segment network interfaces, program network architecture, and network documentation), perform program-wide gap assessments for network development, develop handling plans for any identified issues, and provide networking subject matter expertise to areas such as Major Program Event (MPE) reviews, modeling (architecture, simulation, analysis....), and requirements.
  • Mentor under a senior-level architect/assignee on networking systems architecture synthesis and system-level development
  • Use Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis (MS&A) practices to design, test, and verify network capabilities
  • Drive system-level network MS&A and test governance and tool standardization
  • Provide program-wide SME inputs into networking MS&A and test
  • Coordinate with other MS&A, Test, and network developer teams (e.g. MS&A, RAM, STT, etc…)
  • Mentor a mid-career Network Simulation & Test Analyst on networking systems MS&A practices
  • Perform day-to-day health checks, network capacity planning/modeling, performance analytics, reliability-centered design (RCD), and develop Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF) metrics for network elements
  • Set up a 24×7 monitoring environment for prototype and early-production systems, create SOPs, and run the incident-response cycle during the EMD’s “Production Test” phase
  • Participate in frequent working groups to support iterative development
  • Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
  • Recommend and implement system/process enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
  • Influence network requirements and interfaces; translate program-level requirements into network-level deliverables
  • Support governance adherence for waveform and lower-level OSI network management, protocols, and timing
  • Assess the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable network infrastructure to include network design, architecture, specifications, cross-segment interfaces, and equipment selection per DoD requirements
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Provide specific and detailed information for hardware and software selection as well as implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging Industry and DoD trends and technologies in network frameworks, management, and analytics while ensuring proper utilization where applicable
  • Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to established policies
